Pork and Fennel Meatballs with Tomato Sauce

Juicy pork meatballs with a hint of fennel, simmered in a rich tomato sauce and served with spaghetti.

  • pork mince500g
  • fennel seeds1 tsp
  • breadcrumbs50g
  • egg1
  • chopped tomatoes2 tins
  • onion1
  • garlic cloves2
  • spaghetti400g
  • olive oil1 tbsp

METHOD

  1. 1Mix the pork mince with fennel seeds, breadcrumbs, egg, salt and pepper.
  2. 2Roll into 16 small meatballs.
  3. 3Heat the oil in a large pan and brown the meatballs on all sides, about 8 minutes.
  4. 4Remove the meatballs and soften the chopped onion and crushed garlic in the same pan.
  5. 5Add the chopped tomatoes and 200ml water, then return the meatballs to the sauce.
  6. 6Simmer for 20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
  7. 7Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to packet instructions and drain.
  8. 8Serve the meatballs and sauce over the spaghetti.
