Cheesy Ham and Egg Toastie

A toasted cheese and ham sandwich topped with a fried egg for a quick supper.

SHOPPING LIST

  • bread8 slices
  • ham4 slices
  • cheddar cheese120g
  • eggs4
  • butter40g
  • plain flour1 tbsp
  • milk200ml

METHOD

  1. 1Melt half the butter in a pan, stir in the flour, then whisk in the milk to make a thick sauce.
  2. 2Stir in half the grated cheese and season.
  3. 3Spread the sauce on 4 slices of bread, top with ham and the remaining cheese, then close with the other slices.
  4. 4Fry the sandwiches in the remaining butter for 3 minutes each side until golden.
  5. 5Fry the eggs in the same pan until the whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your liking.
  6. 6Top each toastie with a fried egg and serve.
